Late/Absence Procedures
Pinhoe School has a new Attendance Policy this academic year.
As of September 2022, there is an increased expectation set by the Department for Education this year that pupils will attend 100% of the time.
It is essential that parents or carers make contact with the school office on the first morning that your child is absent. We can then mark your child's register accurately and ensure you do not get flagged for any unnecessary fines.
Please visit our Policy page in the 'Key Information' section of our website for more information.
Children should go in to their classroom at 8.40am every morning.
The gates open at 8.30am.
Children remain the responsibility of their parent/carer until they are dropped off to their classroom at 08:40.
Late Arrival or Early Departure Guidance
If your child is late, please go to the school office to sign them in.
If your child is absent for any reason, please ring the school on 01392 467984 on the morning of the frst day of absence, stating the reason for the absence. The office staff will record the reason. Medical evidence may be requested to validate the absence.
Unless you tell us that your child will be absent for a specific number of days, we will expect you to ring every morning that your child is away.
If you do not ring in, you will receive a text message prompting you to contact the school as soon as possible.
If your child has a medical appointment, please inform the office so that a record can be made. However we ask that every attempt should be made for routine medical appointments to be made outside the school day. Lost learning time affects your child's rate of academic progress.
It is vitally important that we know where all our children are at all times when school is open during term time.
If you are bringing your child into school later in the day, or collecting them during the day, please come to the school office and sign them either in or out respectively.
We have had an exceptional attendance record as a school and we wish to maintain this good reputation with your continued support.
Our thanks in advance for your cooperation.
